I spoke with Dr. Kim a few minutes ago. The scan results look okay, it's hard because there really is nothing to compare it to since it's the first one after her surgery. This scan will be our new baseline, and we'll be able to see an increase/decrease in tumor in subsequent scans.
Also got the new VMA/HVA results
VMA: 40 (up from 28 last month)
HVA: 39 (down from 48 last month)
The VMA is worrying me, but Dr. Kim said that some foods cause the VMA levels to rise. I looked it up and next time we will be avoiding bananas, citrus fruit, avocados, and tylenol a few days before the next test. We've only been doing this for over a year, why haven't they told us this before?

I just read recently about another NB girl who had been drinking a lot of cranberry juice (for a UTI) right before her urine marker tests, and they came back unusually high. They retested after she had it all out of her system and her levels went back down. Her mother also mentioned that some nuts and vanilla can also have the same effect!
Her caringbridge is fl/sydneysims
Hope this helped a little!!

It does help, thank you! I was trying to think of what she ate that day, and the only thing that I could remember is that I gave her some cranberry juice while we were at the hospital (so that we could get urine to test).
Thanks for the update.
I guess you have to watch what she eats and drinks before the test.

Well at least the other one went down, so it looks like they are almost compensating for each other. So they can't tell if it's grown? But don't they know how much they took out with the surgery?
I'm sorry Amber. I hope you get some answers soon.
